We LOVED this place!

Nice and remote
Publié le 19 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayPros: Nice location away from the city, backed up to a lava field and ocean. Clean, comfortable, basic beach equipment included.
Cons: No ocean swimming within walking distance. Loud frogs at night, recommend earplugs. Can hear upstairs neighbors walking around.
Notes: No dishwasher, oven or TV. Cook top doesn’t get very hot. Geckos find their way inside but keep to themselves.

Honeymoon by the Ocean
Publié le 15 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayMy partner and I stayed at this house to finish off our three weeks in Hawaii. It was comfortable, clean, and well laid out. Communication with the host was easy and they were very thoughtful.

Kalapana Is. Paradise
Publié le 13 févr. 2024 sur HomeAwayI cant think of a more charming part of the Big Island than the Kalapana coast. On a clear day, a sunny day, it literally sparkles like diamonds, sapphires, and emeralds.
Our host was very helpful, the rental was charming, the neighbors we incountered were friendly.

Publié le 5 févr. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis is a second time we rent this place! Nothing beats stepping outside, crossing backyard onto roped lava field for a short walt to the ocean!
Interior is spacious, furniture is a little antique, but appliances work well.
Couple things to note: cooking options are a microwave and induction stove, anything you bring with you needs to work with them.
There is no swimming beach you can walk to, shore is rocky, but very beautiful.
Looking forward to staying here again.

I am so pleased you enjoyed Ocean Temple. It. has such a unique setting at the lava and ocean's edge!
For future guests, I have a wet bar set up for your convenience. You will have coffee and tea, a refrigerator, and some handy kitchen things covered for a fun BBQ from the gas grill. A previous guest brought in a hot plate, but it is no longer there. There is food 1/2 mile away, many more restaurants in Pahoa, Kea'au, and Hilo, fresh fruit roadside stands everywhere, and amazing locally grown fresh Farmer's Markets happening with prepared foods taking place at least 3 days a week. For something a little different, I have a list of local caterers who would enjoy bringing you a special meal.

Magical stay at the Ocean Temple

Spacious, open-concept room within a short walk to the waves crashing against the lava/black sand beach…very unique location with majestic sunrise/sunset. Too many adjectives? Check it out and judge for yourself…bring a thesaurus!

40 year anniversary celebration
Publié le 26 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe booked this sanctuary to celebrate my senior parents 40 year wedding anniversary. They absolutely LOVED every second being there. We booked them the following week on the Kona side of the island, and they kept asking to come back to this ocean temple. My mom is a bit OCD, and she was so comfortable in the clean space. They said at night it was an orchestra of birds and nature outside, and in the morning hearing the ocean right outside was life giving. They loved all the little details in the home, and prayer cards, fresh linens, very comfy bed, and how easy it is just to take a meditative stroll to the lava, to watch the ocean is a dream come true! The hosts were incredible, supporting my parents with directions, and things to do, and even helping prepare for a big storm that washed through one day. The property allowed alot of peace and quiet, and reflection for their 40 years of commitment to one another, and we are already planning for them to return and this time stay the full two weeks at the temple. This property is very well taken care of, and held with so much love by the guardians. Super grateful and hope many blessings keep flowing through this space. See you soon! :)

Lava Trip
Publié le 20 mai 2023 sur HomeAwayThe lava cliffs in the back yard to the ocean were beautiful! There was no way to swim there of course, but amazing to look at. There was no stove or oven. They had removed the stove and put a tiny cooktop on top of a mini fridge. I was very disappointed because we were there for a week and normally I cook every meal. I couldn’t this trip. I bought crab legs and it took 2 hours to get water boiling. Also there is no tv, which is fine with me because I don’t watch much of it. The bed’s middle support popped out right when I sat on it. So the bed was caving in till my husband crawled under the bed to screw it in. But it happened again.

Had I known and the bed, I would have come fixed it (it is now fixed).
Ocean Temple does not have a kitchen. It has a wet bar for coffee and tea, refrigeration, and a BBQ. I can help you to arrange for local caterers who would love to offer you their private chef skills, for a variety of diets. There are lots of restaurants in Pahoa, Kea'au and Hilo, as well as numerous Farmer's Markets throughout the week. A convenience store and a coffee/smoothie/sandwich/ice cream/beverages etc is just a short walk away at the end of the road!
