My family and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh-South Side from July 25 to July 27, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had. I booked this stay weeks in advance, reserving two rooms with a specific request that they be adjacent. A necessity since we were traveling with kids. I even called the day before arrival to confirm that the rooms would be next to each other and to request a pack and play/crib for one of the rooms. From the moment we arrived, I had a bad feeling. The lobby had no air conditioning, in late July, during a heatwave, with temperatures in the 90s. I asked immediately if the rest of the building had A/C and was reassured that only the lobby and hallways were affected. This, of course, also meant no A/C in the pool area or the breakfast dining area, which made both spaces uncomfortable to use during our stay. At check-in, I asked again if the rooms were adjacent. I was told yes, and proceeded to check in, handing over my ID and credit card. Once we got up to the fifth floor, we discovered that the rooms were NOT next to each other they weren’t even across from each other but down the hall on opposite sides. I tried calling the front desk from the room, only to discover the phone was so old it was missing buttons and had no labels, so I had to go all the way back down to the hot lobby. I spoke with the same woman who checked us in and she now told me I never booked adjacent rooms despite her…….

Our room appeared clean but there was hair in the shower and found a pair of ear rings on the floor. Also, if I am paying to stay at a hotel, why do I also have to pay $22 to park my car. I am already paying hundreds of dollars to stay.

Weird check in, otherwise good stay

We parked in the lot and had to roll our luggage up the parking lot sidewalk ramp to the front door. The hotel lobby has no air conditioning, first of all, and I’ll note, I didn’t see the elevator. Once checked in, the staff member told us to use our key card and go back outside and around to get to the back door and then to the elevator. We rolled our luggage and stroller down a narrow ramp back to the parking lot, used the keycard, and took the elevator from the 1st floor. Keep that in mind. Weird, but whatever. Later, we took the elevator down to the lobby (2nd) floor and I saw the checkin desk right there. Why did she tell us to go outside and around? Why didn’t she show us the elevator behind her? Otherwise, great room, clean, good breakfast, really nice breakfast staff. This place is also by Carson street which is terrible right now, so don’t go over there.

Phone dead in room, no power to right side nightstand charging plugs/receptacles, No A/C in lobby. Saturday morning maintenance request was taken but not executed. Second late night call for maintenance fixed the receptacles, but not the phone. The WiFi didn’t work when entering the room number and last name as instructed by the website.

I loved the room! It was so nice, lots of light and very big. Nice couch was a welcome addition. The only downside was the pool was not open and the lobby and breakfast room had no air conditioning. Very convenient location, although a little bit sketchy, but we felt safe. Would definitely stay there again when all the kinks were fixed. Great breakfast!

There was no AC in the lobby and the desk said the rooms had AC but it was hot everywhere. When we got in the room there was trash in the garbage can, the hand soap was used and there was a dirty, wet towel in the counter and under the counter. There was still used toilet paper in the toilet. The shower was dirty and the bathroom counter. Looked like the bed was just slopped together. We canceled the reservation and left.

Avoid this property!!

Disappointed in this establishment!! TV in room not working, most fitness center equipment did not work, treadmill belt unsafe and warped, held together with duct tape, pool was nasty, no ice machine, just a heap of construction debris and trash where the ice machine was. How in the world did this place get a 7 out of 10 rating?? Smh!! Lobby/check in area was super hot, felt like a sauna, due to no AC,,overall terrible stay!! Will not consider this property in the future,was told by a desk clerk that all they could do for us was not charge us for parking,, which is another issue,$22 for parking per day!! STILL can't get a manager to call us back to confirm we won't be charged for parking like we were told,,

Hotel was good but staff wasn’t

Staff was quite rude, no bedding available for sofa beds.. expectedly charged parking however it was showing free on hotel.com.. parking charg was overpriced.. There were on 3 towels in the room however we booked room for 6 people and when we asked they said they don’t have it…
