Confortable, nice staff and beautiful decoration!

The decoration is really beautiful, with vegetals in the stairs. There are 2 comfortable "living rooms", a internet room and terrace. The staff is very nice and helpful. The breakfast is really good and the fresh juices very tasty!

Horrible

They lock a gate in front of the front door which you do not get a key for. I got stuck behind the gate TWICE. Once from 4:00 am to 5:15 am and the second time from 2:00 am to 2:30 am. I had to call Expedia to finally be let in.

Where do I start??

To begin with, and thankfully I did read this BEFORE I came to Ecuador. The Hotel has absolutly NO sign that read Equador View Inn. There is a very small blue sign near the faded out address sign that reads: FLACSO RESIDENCIA. No one has any idea in the world where it is. The taxi drivers dont care about the street names or addresses, they just drive aimlessly. Even printed out the driving directions from the airport, they didnt even look at it! Finally found it at 2am, pitch dark, gate locked. I rang the bell as Ireached through the gate till some angry man came and opened the door rubbing his eye(I woke him). I tried to give him my reservation and he didnt even want to see it. I am pretty sure there were NO other guests in the hotel. he carried my bag up three flights of stairs we walked through an unlit hallway, he open the door dropped my bag and began to walk away(angrily)I stopped him and told him Ineeded a taxi at 7am. He only said ok and quickly left me. The room was to be a queen bed(NOT) it was a smaller than a twin, hard as a brick of a bed!! Ther were two pull down shades in the corner windows. The room was about 8x6. The shower was 3 square feet but I did NOT get to take a shower because there was NO hot water!!! There was no alarm clock. PLEASE Do NOT GO THERE. EXPEDIA needs to know this and take them off their list of hotels!!I am a single white woman. VERY SCARY!!!!!

Friendly

Very friendly and helpfull people but the room was in bad condition. A lot of repairs to be done like windows that can not be closed,a bathroom door with loose hinges and a toilet that was running all the time. The window dressings were not blocking the view from outside, no privacy. No heating, the windows could not be closed, it was very cold in This room. Overpriced.far away from downtown and the new airport. The name is different from the name on the website. Very hard to find. Wifi worked.

OK for the price

The "hotel" is actually called the "Residencia Flacso". It is a hostel-like arrangement serving as student housing for the Flacso graduate school. I guess they make extra money renting out the rooms Flacso doesn't use. Don't expect a view though, there isn't one. I paid $38 per night for a single-bed room with bathroom (toilet, sink and shower; no tub). The room was clean except for the filthy floor. White socks were black on the bottoms after just a few minutes. The bed was hard, the pillows flat. Otherwise it was an acceptable $38 room. As others have mentioned, taxi drivers have a hard time finding it. I found that telling them "San Salvador y La Pradera, cerca de La Carolina" helped narrow it down for them, especially from the airport (which by the way is 50km away and a $25 taxi ride). The lady running the hotel is a fantastic person. She'll bend over backwards for you and is super friendly. The rest of the staff (members of her family I think) are not quite as friendly, but they are courteous and helpful. The hotel is in a nice 'sector' (neighborhood), and I felt perfectly safe walking around even after dark.

The worst hotel I've every booked on Expedia.

We stayed in this hotel for one night in early October – DON’T STAY HERE! First of all, it doesn’t look anything like the pictures posted on Expedia, both inside and out. We booked a room with a king size bed and the room they gave us only had a double bed (see pictures). When we asked about it they said that was the only room they had and as we had prepaid we had to take it. Had we not prepaid I would have left right away. It was very hard for the taxi driver to find this place and the name on the front was in very small letters and did not say Equador View Hotel. The lobby was okay and the staff nice enough but the room was terrible. There was hair all over the bathroom floor and hair on the pillows so we had to put towels on them. I don’t think the sheets had been changed from the previous occupant (or the one before). I kept my shoes on as the floor looked like it had not been swept or cleaned for quite some time. There was no soap in the shower and the water was just lukewarm. The whole room was grungy and not very clean. This place looked like a hotel that is rented by the hour and I did not feel very safe. Expedia should inspect hotels before offering them on their website – this place was not decent accommodation by any reasonable standard. For the amount we paid I didn't expect fancy but I did expect clean, decent accommodation - this place was neither.

Good price, hard to find location!

Sign outside says Flacso Residencia not Ecuador View Inn. Easy to miss the place because of incorrect name and also hotel location is on a one way street on a tiny intersection. Even taxi drivers have difficulty trying to locate hotel. Service is basic but good...lone hotel staff tries his best to please customers despite limited English. Hotel location convenient to all the tourist attractions!

Extemely large rooms and comfy beds. Great bed spread. Nice lounges with internet. Couldn't get wifi to work. Simple breakfast. Lady who opens door and makes breakfast nice, but not used to working in a hotel. Administrator not very friendly or helpful... Runs on side of a little creepy, if you are a woman. Location great. 10 min walk to La mariscal

Mala AtenciĂłn

La estancia en el hotel Ecuador View Inn no fue del total agrado primero por la mala atención del personal del hotel, poco cortés e ineficiente para solucionar problemas. 1. Por motivos del viaje se llegó a las instalaciones antes de lo previsto (Check In) por lo que se procedió a cobrarnos un valor adicional por habitación sencilla que fue ocupada por un tiempo de dos horas. 2. La habitación poco confortable por su ubicación (planta baja) se escuchaba mucho ruido de los otros huéspedes. 3. Una de las noches el timbre del hotel sonó aproximadamente una hora, sin que nadie haga caso de la persona que se encontraba en los exteriores del hotel, impidiendo poder descansar. Espero que estos comentarios sean tomados en cuenta, con el fin de mejorar la atención. Saludos Cordiales

A estadia foi bem mais ou menos, porém compatível com o preço. O quarto é bem simples. O ponto alto é a atenção da equipe e o ponto fraco é o banheiro, cujo box é muito pequeno e as instalaçÔes antigas.

A little difficult to find but worth the stay

I looked up the location on a map and on my second walk past the hotel with my backpack, a young man approached me and asked if I was looking for a hotel. He was a manager there and walked me to the check in. The name on the sign outside did not say Ecuador View. Instead it read FLACSO RESIDENCIA. So look for that sign if staying there. The staff were helpful, the room was good, the shower was hot and the breakfast was very good. I would return there in the future. A good restaurant for lunch at 3.50 is one building to their left.
