It was perfect for what is was, I wish there was a place to put the soap in the shower but that's about it.

Lovely stopover or a perfect getaway
Posted Jun. 29, 2018 on HotelsThe area is within 10 min walk from town centre. The receptionist was very helpful amd accomodating. A grocery store just across the street. Room was lovely, clean, airconditioned. Really enjoyed our stay on the way further into Italy.

Thank You very much.

Just about adequate
Posted Sep. 6, 2015 on HotelsThis was a last minute booking and my budget was small so my expectations were not very high. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Sanremo. If, like me, you are unfortunate enough to get a room close to the adjacent petrol station, you might find your room is not dark enough for an undisturbed sleep. The room is basic but clean. My mattress was very hard. The free breakfast is adequate but only one cup of coffee offered!
Overall, I am satisfied with my stay.

Very nice family-run hotel 5 mins walk from beach.
Posted Sep. 2, 2014 on ExpediaThis was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay in a nice family-run hotel: the service was excellent and friendly and the ambience welcomingly individual. Hotel Rio is not a clone of the faceless chain hotels: it has individual decor and a very traditional feel, which I like immensely. The Hotel Rio is a short walk from the fantastic beaches in Sanremo, and also a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of the town, with its fabulous restaurants and amazing medieval historical sector. For me Sanremo is the perfect spot on the Riviera for both a beach holiday, for shopping, and for exploring a beautiful historical Italian city. Overall the Hotel Rio is a very well-priced and good value choice.

Would not stay again
Posted Jul. 23, 2014 on HotelsSanremo is beautiful. The owners and staff are friendly however the hotel needs major renovations. Having to pull an iron gate closed on our balcony , lock it , pull a metal roll shutter down and lock that too has much to be desired. The view of the gas station directly under the balcony and "women of the night" across the street also was not what we expected. People walking the hall ways at 2,3 & 4 in the morning was loud and a major disruption. I would reconsider booking this "hotel"

Clean and inexpensive

Pros: Clean
Cons: See above
This is truly a 2 star -and not a 3 star- hotel. Everything is old and lacks charm. The shower is so small that I literally had to squeeze in. And I'm not THAT big.
That said the proprietor is charming, and the place is clean.
By the time I had paid for the Internet (EUR 10 for 24 hours online) and the extra for the dog (EUR 10/day), it was close to what I paid a day later for a real four star hotel in Imperia, just a few kilometers East. A lovely city also that said, less hectic than Sanremo.

More than Basic, and great location
Posted Jul. 30, 2013 on HotelsI was at the hotel for business - not for summer vacation at the beach. If you require WiFi in your room to work during the day, make sure that you request one of those rooms; several do not have access to internet. The owner-managers are lovely and very helpful in every way. Certainly worth a return visit.
