Property is a little dated, but they are currently renovating. Service was excellent, and the property was clean. The crowd does get a little ghetto on Friday, and Saturday though. The road to the resort is really bad, but hopefully after the renovation they'll fix it.

This was my fourth stay at different Riu's, and frankly this was the least favorite of the four. I had two rooms, 1 for me and my wife, and the other room for my 2 adult sons. Another couple joined us and had their own room. Bottomline all three rooms were unclean and very outdated. My room required recleaning and a change of sheets since they were dirty. The lack of care in the rooms shows and there are simple fixes the hotel could do if they cared to. Like the other Riu's I stayed at they have an onsite photography. At this location during our family photos on the beach our session was interpreted by a group of local men. Anyways, since the hotel lacks security on the open beach and basically allows anyone on the property my paid photo session was ruined. The lady taken our photos did not know how to handle this disruption and again there is no security, so I had to intervene. The country is beautiful and amazing, but this Riu location is not recommended.

Hồi property sits on a stunning piece of land overlooking both the ocean and the mountain rainforest. The location is truly beautiful, and the property itself is pleasant and enjoyable. That said, there are a few areas that need improvement. The food, in my opinion, rates about a 5 out of 10. All of the specialty restaurants were disappointing — it felt like the chefs weren’t quite sure what they were doing. The buffet was actually the best dining option during our stay. The rooms are spacious, but they’re dated and could use some updating. We also had a leak in one of our rooms, and our key cards randomly stopped working several times during the trip, which was frustrating and took time away from our vacation. On the positive side, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided above-average service. There’s plenty to do on the property, and the waterslide was a big hit. One last note: the road leading to the Riu property is narrow, with several sections full of potholes. If tourism is expected to grow, improving the roads is essential. I truly hope the right people read these reviews and take action. Overall, despite the inconveniences, I would visit again.

Where to start? Access: Roads very poor, totally washed out in some areas. Prepare to get carsick. Room: Dated, ours smelt like pee near the closet (room 4041) and moldy when airconditioner was off. Aircon couldn't be properly controlled, nor could the fan or TV. Toilet water red at times. Key cards deactivated so many times it became routine for me to reset them every time before I went upstairs. Food: how do you make fruit tasteless? Donuts taste like bread? I had to spit out the duck I had at the Japanese restaurant. It was bad. You had to line up to reserve restaurants at 5:45 at night or you'd miss out on them. Buffet was large and institutional like. Noise: The evening entertainment practiced loudly during the afternoon, played very loudly until 10:45 each night. The drummer was dreadful and the singers not much better. This was right outside our room and remember the airconditioner was freezing cold or not at all so we had to open our window. Bed: I had to sleep in pants as the sheets made my legs itch. But overall the bed was ok. Drinks: Very watered down (which I didn't mind) Staff: Lovely people, most really hard working. They cleaned up after you very well (except for the beach area that got messy at times). We will never stay at a Riu again after this experience.

The staff was amazing! From the reception desk to the waiters and not to mention the bartenders. Everyone was so friendly and with a great attitude some even knew me by name. We had one problem with one of our rooms but we got the issue resolved and they moved us rooms. The shows were great and the food was really good. Some all inclusive resorts the food & alcohol is not it but here I’d have to say there was something for everyone even the buffet style food was good. I would definitely come back to this hotel.

This hotel is not at all updated. It needs major upgrades. The colors are outdated, the rooms need to be repainted, it’s not only the rooms it’s the entire hotel that appears it’s not kept up to date. The food, is a one star. Food is not fresh and there are not many options available. The hotel did not cook the typical food from Costa Rica which is why people travel is to experience the culture. The pool needs to be cleaned, like a deep cleaning around the edges of the pool. The staff need to be more welcoming.

Beautiful location and very friendly, attentive staff. Food was what we expected, loved the pools, water park and proximity to the beach. Was also nice there were excursions that left from the RIU private beach. The only thing we didn't like is no reservations for dinner. They say no line for restaurants, just show up. This is not true. One night we showed up for dinner at 7 p.m. and not one restaurant could accommodate our party of 3. They explained that you must show up before the restaurants open in order to get a table. This meant we had to wrap up our excursion or timr on the beach or pool, get ready for dinner and be in line no later than 5:30 p.m. We won't be back for that reason alone.
