The Beautiful Waterfront Boyce House
The Boyce House was built in 1899 making this historic home over 120 years old. It was one of the earlier homes built in the neighborhood, originally constructed for the Mayor of St Augustine, Elmer E. Boyce, from July 1899 to June 1907. He was also the Sherriff of St. John's County for more than two decades. This home features 6 bedrooms allowing a family of 12 to enjoy their stay. The bedrooms include two king beds, two queen beds, one bunk bed for children and one sitting room that includes a sleeper sofa with a queen sized mattress. A massive dining room table that will sit 12 guests and there are also tables and chairs for children included at the home. When you aren't sleeping, there is a large back yard that backs up to the Maria Sanchez Lake for a picture perfect view to enjoy a relaxing evening rocking in the rocking chairs or playing a round of cornhole with family. The house also include a Miss Pacman game for some indoor entertainment as well as a collection of board games for your indoor entertainment.
4 Hours before check in owner cancelled while I can appreciate the transparency saying it was a pest issue. She offered 2 other properties that were far less than what we originally paid and accommodated less guests than what we had coming. 2 hours before check in I got a cancellation notice and was basically on our own to scramble to find a new place. Thankfully we found a place but ruined an entire day of my vacation.
We booked the Boyce House for our mom's 80th birthday celebration. I must say, WE all loved the house and the hostory of the house. It was a perfect representation of the history of St. Augustine- location, charm, appeal, perfect size, it had it all.
It was ideal for our purposes, and would stay again.
Very nice house that is an easy 1 mile walk to downtown St. Augustine. The large back porch with rocking chairs overlooking a small lake and quiet neighborhood was the perfect gathering spot for our family to hang out together. House was clean and well equipped, and check-in was easy. Our family would certainly stay here again whenever back in St. Augustine.
Suppose to have rented from June 8-11 for out of town family for wedding. Went to property early after confirming with owner this was okay. Upon arrival found a gentleman spraying with what looked like something you get at Walmart for Fleas, Bedbugs, Ticks. Alerted the owner to tell her my family would not be staying in a flea infested house and did she have any suggestions to help with this terrible position I was in as my out of town guest had no place to stay. She offered the number of a cleaner person and suggested I contact him to see if any houses he cleans were available!!! Really!!! Gave me a full refund but thank goodness I found another property on my own!!! Inexcusable !! Would NEVER STAY at this property!!!
We had another VRBO house cancel on us 4 hours before check in (they had an emergency at the house) and Devon was extremely helpful and accommodating. She went out of her way to get her house turned around quickly so we could get everyone in and ready for the rehearsal on time. The house is absolutely beautiful, it's in a perfect location ( walkable to historic downtown and across from a lake), and it was large enough to accommodate our group. It had everything you would need, it was celan and just as described. We would definitely rent the place again. Thanks for everything Devon. You were fantastic.
This house is wonderful. We loved itâs history and the location is great. The neighborhood is quiet and we were able to walk to all the shop/restaurants. My son enjoyed the games that were provided as well as the fenced in yard. The house is very well stocked. We would definitely stay again.
This was our first time visiting St. Augustine and we loved it! We were very pleased with our stay at this lovely historical home! The home was clean and spacious. It was a nice walk to downtown, and we enjoyed taking in the scenery. The backyard was fenced in making it perfect for the kids to play in. Sitting on the back porch, relaxing in the rocking chairs watching the horse and carriages trot by was our favorite part! We definitely recommend this home and will be back!!
