Well, what can I say. I wish I'd looked at the reviews not just the price. Before I start, have to say the staff were lovely.
So, this hotel was probably fine in 1995. But I doubt it has had any maintenance work since then. I'm talking threadbare carpets, weird reinforced glass, beds where your feet are higher than your head, scuffs and damaged paintwork everywhere you can imagine, we didn't even try the shower over the bath - it was too terrifying.
The overall feeling was one of the sort of old peoples home where you would send your wicked stepmother and hope to never see her again

Hotel had a welcoming man at desk.
Nice lounges but we had our little dog with us, so unfortunately couldnât use facilities.
Room was large with amazing views, bathroom in need for an upgrade.
Position was perfect to leisurely stroll into St Ives.
Initially given the wrong room but thankfully issue was resolved. Windows could have used a clean and TV is very small. Lovely view of the beach and free parking outside if youâre quick enough. Walk down to the town is nice, back up the hill not so much. One funny thing that happened was when I dropped a multivitamin and it rolled underneath the bed, upon trying to retrieve it I pulled out a viagra which was a surprise. Hotel slightly dated the convenience and welcoming staff make for this.
Room view is excellent but room 301 is so hot that I found difficult to fall asleep. It is better if I cant open the window wider and let cool and fresh air into the room to decrease the room tempereture and increase the comfort of residents.
Took all day to clean our room and it was still dirty and we were miss sold of the type of room we got. I got confused because it felt like a care home.
Desperate need of a refurb the floor boards creek in other rooms which keep you awake. The shower cubicle is small Karen Carpenter would struggle to get in
Single ensuite room was great: big and comfortable. Had a nice surprise to get a sea view which wasn't expecting. Bathroom needed an update but did the job. Window difficult to close as so high up.
Our room was a little bit dirty when we went in, so we asked for it to be cleaned again, but they sort of just made the bed and emptied the bin.
The chair had hair and crumbs on it, some of the pillows were stained and the fake flowers on the table had really gross water in it.
The view from the room was great, but the window was covered in bird poo, the car park is convient and its really close to the beach and town centre.
Overall i liked the hotel, i would stay there again, if nothing else was available.
The hotel entrance and room was awful. I wouldnât leave my dog in the room. The walls were battered and the carpet was dirty and worn in many places. It was cramped.
The pictures online do not truly reflect the poor state of the hotel. Shame as it is in a good location but needs complete renovation. We could not stay there and asked for our money back which they did oblige.
