Secret Seashell is the kind of place that you brag to your friends about after staying there. Expansive views from every room, stunning pool patio, privacy and luxury. The sound of the waves breaking on the reef fills the home and fresh trade winds cool your sun soaked skin. With every amenity thought of you can easily relax on what will become your annual trip to St John.

This Owner-built villa means that every detail was thought of taking advantage of spectacular ocean views, all the comforts of home, and more. Located in Coral Bay on the East end of St. John out on the laid back private peninsula of Fortsberg with quick access to the Virgin Islands National Park beaches and hiking trails. Spend your days out exploring and return home with the serene sound of the ocean on warm nights as you sit under the gazebo or relax pool-side on the patio.

The upper living quarters include a beautiful master suite, complete with an outdoor shower!

This is a quintessential St John home with lovely stonework, beautiful exterior, with several covered porches and screen doors for the cross breeze and a great pool area. The house has wonderful ocean views and beautiful landscaping all around. It would be perfect for a family vacation or for three couples - there are three bedrooms, the primary with an en-suite and two additional queen rooms with separate bathrooms. The pool area has very accommodating and comfortable seating both in the sun and shade. This is a gated home which keeps out the goats, with a parking area large enough that you accommodate several vehicles. The location of this house provided quick access to Coral Bay restaurants, South shore, East end and the North shore beaches.

Need better property management

The property was clean, except for some moldy air conditioning grates in a bedroom. We could smell it as soon as we walked in.We slept in 1 of the downstairs bedrooms, which has a really small a.c. unit; it never got below 73 in our room. Our friends upstairs were very comfortable in their room, good a.c.I will say, the photos are a little misleading from the website, it is smaller than it appears in photographs. But a nice house. We were met by an assistant property manager, she showed us around a little, but never showed us what any of the MANY, MANY light switches were for. And then the main property manager asked if we would mind them bringing by some potential buyers for the house! I booked this reservation 8 months in advance, and had no idea the property was for sale(we found a small flyer on the desk). Why would we leave the place we paid for; they should have waited until we were gone and the place cleaned, we saw openings on their calender the following week. A ridiculous request!

Overall the property was very nice. As many others mentioned, the A/C is only in the bedrooms, but this was not an issue for us. Not sure if it was the time of year, but we had between 15-25 mph winds the whole trip, so the living area stayed cool enough for us. Although less than 1 year old, the dishwasher did not work and could not be repaired during our stay. We found that many of the dishes were not clean upon arrival. Likely an issue of the dishwasher, but nonetheless, the cleaning people should have noticed this. The mgt team was very responsive. We considered all of this a minor annoyance and it would not stop us from recommending this home as it was overall nicely laid out and well appointed. The views didn't disappoint either.

Stunning, Thoughtfully Stocked Home with Amazing Views & Vibes!

Our stay at this beautiful home was perfect! The drive up is a bit of a trek, but it’s well worth it for the peaceful surroundings and breathtaking views. The home itself is incredibly clean and thoughtfully designed, with unique shell accents woven throughout the structure, adding a special island touch.One of the things we appreciated most was how well-stocked it was—pots, pans, seasonings, trash bags, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, and so many little things that made our stay seamless and stress-free. It truly felt like a home away from home!The outdoor space is just as amazing, with a gorgeous pool to relax in and soak up the views. And the sound system was Next level! Syncing our phones and playing our favorite music throughout the house made the experience even more enjoyable.If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-equipped, and truly special place to stay, this is it! We can’t recommend it enough and would absolutely stay here again.

Ultimate relaxation!

The villa was beautiful. The view is beyond stunning. Jared the owner was very accommodating and always available. The location is remote but we were looking for that. If you want to have dinners in some of the better restaurants on the island, however, it is a 30-35 minute drive on winding steep roads. Highly recommend renting a 4 wheel drive Jeep because part of the road to the villa is not paved and steep. Overall an exceptional experience. Highly recommend!

The property is beautiful and very well maintained. Communication was excellent from check in to check out. We had a very small issue come up and the communication and fix was incredibly fast. Jared and team were great to work with. Our family of 5 including 3 kids under the age of 10 stayed and the swimming pool was a huge perk. We would definitely stay here again.

Simply amazing

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in paradise at the Secret Seashell and will strongly consider returning to enjoy this villa again (we visit Coral Bay regularly). The home is stunning and well appointed. We were attracted to the outdoor space including private pool, beautiful grounds and view as well as a large patio with a covered outdoor living room, and experiencing it in person far exceeded our expectations (even better than the pictures)! We primarily stayed on the main floor and it was exactly what we needed with a young toddler. In fact, we partly chose this villa because it is lower down on the peninsula and has balconies where a little one could not fit between the bars. Other than picking up a few items of sea shell decor, the home was already baby proofed enough that we could all relax and enjoy our time. The management team is great and recommended islandbabyvi.com from whom we ordered a pack-and-play, a couple baby gates and a booster seat, which were waiting for us in the foyer. The home interior is beautiful and comfortable. The outdoor shower off the master bath is just incredible and the whole matter suite is impressive. Both of the suites downstairs were very nice and one of them also has an awesome ornate stone shower that was indoors but still open air, so my wife often used it as well. Since visiting Coral Bay many years ago, we just keep coming back for more, and this home is in an awesome location without the steep mountain roads. Well be back!

Beautiful home, prompt service

We had a great stay at the Secret Seashell! As noted in prior reviews, the home is out further than most which gave us our desired privacy. You will need a Jeep or SUV to travel the road. The home was beautiful and well kept. Having beach chairs, coolers, and ice packs in the freezer made beach days easy and simple. As with any home, small issues can arise. A mild earthquake cracked a commode while we were there. A pool pump also broke and drained the pool another day. Jared had servicemen there both days to address and fix issues. The pool was fixed and refilled the same day! What more can you ask? Communication was excellent. Keri was available anytime we needed her. She made recommendations that made our stay unforgettable. No regrets with our stay at this home!

Secret Paradise

Secret Seashell is a hidden gem. A true secret paradise. House was in excellent condition with all the amenities you need for your stay. Kitchen is well equipped. There are 6 beach chairs and 3 coolers of various sizes. Pool is great. Outdoor cabana with ceiling is great for morning coffee and evening cocktails. The great room and kitchen are not air conditioned but have 4 large sliding patios doors; combined with 3 ceilings fans, there is enough breeze to stay comfortable. 3 bedrooms have A/C, which is perfect for sleeping. Jared, Keri, and Kyle was great to work with. Kyle escorted us to the house on day one (the access road is dirt/gravel before you arrive at a gated drive). He sent us daily “Good Days” and recommendations for beaches and restaurants. Great guy. Downstairs laundry was perfect for mid week laundry or drying towels and chammys after a day on one of the many, beautiful beaches. It was a perfect secret paradise for our family of 6 adults.

Beautiful property!

This is a beautiful property located in Coral Bay. This was our first trip to St John. Kyle greeted us and was extremely helpful with restaurants and navigating the island. The property was clean and well maintained. You definitely need a 4x4 to navigate the road to the property and it is a 25 minute drive to Cruz bay. We liked the privacy and the beautiful views. This place worked well with our teen/adult children, however I would not recommend for families with small children. The bedrooms below are accessible by an outdoor entrance only. Also the bedrooms are air conditioned but the main living area is not. We spent a lot of time outside until the bugs or the heat became unbearable. The pool was beautiful and we used it often. Thank you for a wonderful stay in St John!

Beautiful rental

My husband and I and 2 other couples rented this house last week and had a wonderful time. The house, pool, landscaping and stone work was beautiful. The views of the ocean from the porch and pool were top rated. The home was exceptionally clean, with comfortable beds, and quality linens and towels. The outdoor shower in the master suite was just incredible. We really appreciated the beach chairs, the beach towels and the coolers there for our use. We liked the many different seating areas throughout the property, inside and out. My negatives are really just nit-picking, but the shear curtains in the master and east side lower level do not block any sun coming in starting at 5:30 in the morning, so pack some eye coverings. The 2 downstairs bedrooms are not accessible from the inside of the house so if you have young children, then house may not work for you. Overall, this is an amazing property in Coral Bay, close to some really great restaurants (Rhumb Lines, Skinny Legs, Surf Cantina, Salty Mongoose and Lime Out), a decent grocery store (Dolphin) and the best Beaches we have ever seen. We also chartered a boat to the BVI (The Juggernot) which was a spectacular experience. Communication was clear and easy. We would definitely rent this home again!

We love the location as it is so close to Skinny Legs and Coral Bay but very secluded and quiet except for the waves lapping the shore. The views are amazing, It really is perfect!

My wife and I wanted a home base we could chill at as much as we wanted, but that we could hit hikes & beaches from as well. Secret Seashell nailed it for us. The real thing is as good or better than the expectations the listing gave us.

Sweet secret seashell

Lovely property perched on a hill, facing the ocean and sunrise. Woke up to sunny days mostly, but even a rainy one was beautiful from bed or front veranda. Spacious accommodations, infinity pool overlooking several bays. Well equipped kitchen. Clean and laid up to be perfect for two couples or a family. Jared and colleagues were very responsive. Resident iguana was fun to watch in garden areas.

Quiet and lovely

We stayed for a week in March 2023. We were looking for a property in the East side of St. John that was going to give us some solitude. The Secret Seashell was perfect for this. For starters, the landscaping was just beautiful and the constant presence of hummingbirds was such a fun thing to have. The pool was super clean. The inside of the property is exactly as is appears in the pictures. The kitchen has everything you need. The beds are clean and comfy. The porch is perfect for watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee. Having laundry on site was great. The grill was new and clean. It was great having coolers, beach chairs, and towels to use. It was just very easy. I really only have positive things to say about The Secret Seashell.
