Booked this solely based on the photos and decided to try out ONE night in our 6 night trip. The place is a dump. An absolute dump! The beach has serious erosion and although I'm seeing this is something affecting the entire south side of the Island, it should be updated on their website to show that there is no beach like shown in the pictures. The sand dunes (as shown in my photo) blocks any beach access.
Instead there is bad beach erosion and the dunes which are being ripped apart by the higher seas is right along their barrier. There was a security guard who checked me in and showed me to the room. He was friendly and directed me to the local bar to get some food. This was THE Only STAFF I saw while here at this hotel and left at sun up because I couldn't deal with how gross it was! Anyways the bar, Jazz charged 18.00 USD for one chicken thigh and leg. Very very pricey but I knew that night i would not be extending my stay. Hotels.com shows restaurant on site, there is none. The restaurant is actually next door at ocean 2. Their breakfast buffet is 65.00! Apparently they are owned by the same company and planning on tearing it down soon. This is the worst experience I've had and I hope people truely believe my warnings. No pool or beach to swim in due to erosion will equal a miserable stay
I found a hotel about 1/4 mile north, the restrover and saw their prices were 15.00 more. I immediately left this dump and booked the most beautiful studio room...
This was my 4th visit to Salt Ash in the last 3 years and it’s become our home away from home. Everyone we met went above and beyond for us, from Kimberly in the office to Tyrone at his beach bar, housekeeping and security. We wish you all well.
Convenient to everything within a few steps. Rooms clean & spacious, staff warm & welcoming. Having the bar and the beach with free lounge chairs for guest backing the premises was awesome! I also enjoyed sitting on the patio and watching the amazing sunset as it meets the ocean water. Great value for the buck! Many thanks to Salt Ash Hotel, I definitely recommend it!
Right on the beach! The hotel is very clean and comfortable, and is only a block or 2 away from a market, ATM, and some good restaurants. Absolutely perfect place to relax, watch or swim in the ocean, with your own frig (once you stock it with the local beer) just a few steps away. All that happiness for a very reasonable (read "cheap") cost.
An excellent economical hotel right in the middle of "the Gap". The staff run an efficient operation and are very pleasant. Nothing too much trouble. Hotel is basic and although a little tired it does the job. Balcony view of the ocean and views of the beach are very relaxing and more than make up for the simple but adequate facilities. Room includes a small kitchen. As it is on the beach and only a few steps away from restaurants and the Dover Supermarket this is a great place to unwind and chill. My only advice is once you get to the Gap ask where the hotel is as it is not obvious from the main road. Barry's surf school signs are worth following as they are right next door. A small beach bar is also on site and is run by a typical local. Good parking and fast wi fi.
This hotel is very a very convenient location, grocery store, beach, restaurants and everything you can ask in the Gap. Kimberlin was amazing ! she helps us with all the information we need , also our flight was late around 7:00 pm. and we were able to move to another to change and shower after the check out time for free!. customer service in Barbados is best! I booked a ocean room I got # 10 room this view is just beautiful from my room balcony. This is not a push hotel or arte modern facility but the rooms and in perfect condition plus the rate is pretty good!. Value for Money.

Disliked: Staff & service
For a budget hotel this is good and close to everything. The hotel manager could get a better bedside manner though. A good experience overall though.
I just stayed in an amazing value beach-side apartment at Salt Ash Hotel. I have stayed there before and loved it, but on that occasion, I was in a downstairs room. That had the benefit of not having to walk upstairs, but the upstairs room that I stayed in this time had the advantage of a lovely veranda with a stunning view of the beach and ocean. The location is perfect - right on the beach and close to all the activity on St Lawrence Gap. The rooms are old but spacious, clean and well-maintained. The beds are comfortable, and the quiet at night ensures a good night's sleep. The kitchenette has everything you need to be self-catering - thereby saving you a lot of money on meals. The staff members are all pleasant, helpful and very responsive to any problems you may have. On my regular trips to Barbados, this will be the place I always stay :-)

pricing
i d converted the $US price i d booked at to GBP arrived at the hotel with what i believed to be more than enough to cover costs ,to be told that they have their own conversion rates .Just saying if $47.00 = £35.....i cannot work out how they got to £42.00...i ended up paying £40.00 so i paid £5.00 OVER THE PRICE I BOOKED AT ....SO PLEASE BEWARE
This place was very affordable. It is nothing fancy at all, there is a bar that is open daily on the spot. You can hear the waves all night long! It is walking distance to food, stores and shopping! We were very pleased with our stay!
Apartment is in a great position but could do with a overall eg decorating and bathroom sorting out shower needs a handrail new curtain and toilet seat fixing

Salt Ash Hotel
Small hotel directly on the beach, with Tyrone’s beach bar attached. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We stayed for 3 weeks and are returning later in the year.
Well worth our stay. beautifully located on the beach, there is nothing better than waking up to sounds of the ocean outside your window. My friend and I had a 2 bed Ocean side room right by the bar (convenient) and literally steps away from the beach. The location is great since it’s situated very close to the St Lawrence Gap (bars/restaurants). The walk isn’t bad at all. There’s also a small grocery store/deli shop, coffee shop down the street (Ocean 15 or something) and a cute Jazz Bar next door as well. Absolutely would stay again and recommend it!
