No staff, very poor service

The hotel is in a nice setting and the room was a decent size and comfortable. The hotel is beginning to look a little tired. It would possibly have been a 4 star review, but when we arrived early Sunday evening, there were no staff in evidence. After about 5 minutes, somebody finally appeared and checked us in. They make a big deal on their website about their restaurant, so we booked dinner bed and breakfast, but we're told we couldn't eat in the restaurant, only at a table in the bar, which was not what we expected or wanted. When we went to the bar, there was again nobody around, when the barman finally arrived, he ignored me and made some coffees for someone else. When I said that it wasn't acceptable to wait such a long time and then be ignored, he said he didn't care and if I continued to complain, he would shut the bar, because he had resigned and was leaving the next day. It transpired that there were apparently only 2 front of staff on duty, despite there being quite a lot of guests in the hotel. The food wasn't bad, but I found it disappointing to be sniggered at by the waitress for having ordered fish and chips. As I live in the South of France, it makes quite a nice change

Amazing hotel but the staff are even better

Definitely my favourite place to stay I was delayed on route and ended up checking in super late, the staff couldn’t do enough for me and were really accommodating! Love this hotel but the staff are even better than the hotel!! Fab fab fab!!!

Disappointed

Gala event New Year’s Eve the organisation of the evening felt all over the place the food and the service didn’t compare to others when attending for canapés, glasses of Prosecco are set out for u to take on arrival not this time, by 19:15 there was nothing we had to ask for the drink as did several other couples we were told that there were no glasses we had to wait for them to come out of the dishwasher someone was sent for bottles of Prosecco which was then poured into the warm glasses straight from the dishwasher a young lad did offer to fetch a selection of canapés which we accepted others had to wait for the same, in the main venue room there wasn’t much of an atmosphere the food was mediocre and served slowly coffee was over at side table in flasks, lukewarm they ran out of cups no fresh cream, no after dinner mints the entertainment was a DJ, no modern music played, some tunes were ok but usually ones requested by guests. Breakfast was a shambles purely because of the set up tea coffee set up well away from the food area just in flasks lukewarm would have been better to have tea pots u can add hot water to and take to ur table, toaster should have been on a separate table and at least two toasters plates-nothing matched it was like they were from a charity shop no side plates the room was great however no bubble bath I had to use a glass to fill with shower gel from the fixed appliance in the shower the hotel looks lovely let down by little things overall disappointe
