Los Colibris Casitas was a wonderful place to stay, especially for anyone who wants to be outside the main downtown square. The property sits atop the hills dividing downtown from the ocean, so the rooms have some of the best views in all of Todos Santos. Outside, the decks, terraces, and pool are all beautifully and artistically done. The hosts were thoughtful and provided great service, making this a very relaxing and comfortable trip. for anyone who wants to be outside the main downtown square.

NO RESERVATION FOR YOU!!

Posted Nov. 4, 2016 on Expedia
Pros: Unfortunately we were unable to stay because the owners did not have our reservation.
Cons: We booked our reservation through Expedia in July for our trip in October. We arrived early mainly so we could find the hotel, we did not expect to check in. Good thing we did, because the owner came out and said he did not have a reservation for us and that his 96 year old family member was in the room we had booked. He said they did not use Expedia any longer because they had had problems. He would check with his wife and call us back in 30 minutes. After 2 hours we found other lodging, then they called and said they could "upgrade us" to the room we had originally booked. All in all just very disappointing. Now trying to get my deposit back, but they won't respond to Expedia.
Location: Location is horrible. Hard to find. No signage. Bad parking.

It is an interesting story, just not a true one. We still use Expedia and have had no problems. We had your reservation when you arrived 3.5 hours prior to your check-in time, but the reservations manager was not there and the owner - who does not handle reservations - was unclear on what room you were in. The reservations manager called you back 2.5 hours prior to your check in time and cleared up the confusion and informed you that we had your reservation and there was no problem. There was no discussion of "upgrading" you to your original room. You had already found another hotel at that point, still 2.5 hours prior to your check-in time, and simply did not want to return. Your reservation confirmation form from Expedia stated clearly that check-in is between 3 and 7 PM, and you chose not to return in that time to check into the room that we were holding for you. We do apologize for the confusion on the owner's part, but we there was no problem with the reservation. As for our location, we are on a hill overlooking 70 miles of pristine beach, the Pacific ocean, and the palm oasis, yet we are only 1.5 miles from town. Our views are absolutely stunning. Our address appears in any google maps or similar search, and we also send detailed instructions to those who inquire before setting off. Each of our casitas has its own parking space or spaces. We understand that you are upset and we are truly sorry about that, which is why we wrote to you offering compensation for your trouble. We did respond to Expedia and you may check in with them on that. Hope you had a wonderful holiday.

What all hotels should be...

Posted Aug. 6, 2015 on Hotels
This is the kind of hotel you want to stay in when you're traveling thru Mexico. Its clean, artsy, interesting, beautiful. The owner is super friendly. Breakfast (not included) is VERY good and recommended. We thought the hotel was dog friendly, which it semi-is. Call the owner to talk about her own dogs before you just show up like we did. Nothing bad to say at all about our stay there. We should advise though that although you can SEE the ocean, getting to it is another matter. We had a 4WD truck so we could make the 6-8 minute drive down to the beach on the rutted roads. Otherwise, you have a pretty rough hike with substantial vertical to get down to, and back up from the ocean. But honestly, the ocean in Todos Santos is nearly unswimmable anyway because of the massive shore breaks. So just enjoy chilling in the infinity edge swimming pool at the ocean and your awesome pacific panoramas!

Cute place with friendly staff and an awesome view

Posted Jun. 10, 2015 on Expedia
Pros: The view, friendliness of owners and staff, the design and decoration of the rooms and grounds
Cons: A/C units
Location: Up on a hillside overlooking the ocean and the town. Nothing available in the immediate vicinity but a 3 minute drive from the hotel to central town
It's a little off the beaten path but it's at the top of a hill that overlooks the coast so the views from the balconies at the rooms are fantastic. Beautiful little hotel with tons of landscaping, art and character. The pool is small but nice. Cute rooms with lots of art. The owners are absolute gems. The restaurant at the hotel only does breakfast but it's very good and reasonably priced. Some of the ingredients are picked fresh daily. The walk to the beach is a bit of a hike from the hotel but the whole town of Todos Santos is removed from the beach so it's no different than being at a hotel right in town. The owners are very friendly. Walking into town is not very feasible but parking is easy in town. The only complaint would be that the A/C unit was old and, while functional, couldn't get the room as cool as we would have liked. Given price, location and the staff, we don't think we could have gotten a better room anywhere in town.

All of us at Los Colibris are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us! We do apologize about the issue with the air conditioner, but rest assured that it has been addressed and the new unit in the room working beautifully. One note of clarification: our chef is available to make lunches and dinners for guests upon request. Thank you so much for staying with us and we hope to see you back here some day soon!
