Lovely place but be aware when bringing a dog
Posted Feb. 17, 2024 on HotelsIf was asked to review this stay when we checked out, i’d have given it a 5 stars. Helpful and friendly staff and lots of communication prior to stay. Room was lovely and cosy and it was so nice they gave the dog a little bed/water bowl to use. I’d even called the front desk to say thank you for leaving a bed as that was a lovely touch.
However about 2 hours after we checked out the next day, I then had a phone call to say we needed to pay another £25 for the dog.
There was no mention of additional dog fees on hotels.com and I had also contacted the hotel prior to make sure we could bring the dog and whether we needed to make this a special request when booking. We were told we can bring the dog at no cost and the whole place was dog friendly so they could stay in any room available.
This phone call demanding money was really unexpected and has tarnished our view of the hotel, hence dropping the stars.
Personally I don’t understand how they can warrant charging this regardless as there was nothing extra they needed to do just because a dog stayed, it’s a pretty steep extra charge and was very disappointing they waited until after we had left to then land an extra unexpected charge on us.

The next Southwold.
Posted Feb. 3, 2024 on HotelsGreat room in central location. Very good breakfast. Bar expensive as most pubs in wells are . Edinburgh inn round the corner where the local's go cheaper. All in all I would stay again in this hotel.

Arch House Stay Jan’24
Posted Jan. 14, 2024 on HotelsLovely stay at The Arch House, comfortable quirky room with upstairs sofa bed and bathroom. This room is definitely not suitable for the less able as there are stairs involved and the bathroom is upstairs from the bedroom.
Breakfast was at The Globe which was a 5min walk away and it was delicious. We would definitely be more than happy to stay here again.

Room was ridiculously hot and radiator valve was in corner so to adjust was very difficult under a desk so left alone

Arch house, the Globe.
Posted Dec. 31, 2023 on HotelsWe stayed in the Arch House rooms. Last year we stayed in the globe.
The room was clean and tidy.
The shower started dripping heavily during the night loudly enough to wake ua and to have to take the shower head down and leave it in the shower tray.
The smoke alarm above the bed flashed the whole time through the night a bright light that also woke me a few times.
The heated towel rail didnt work making the en suite cold unless we left the door open.
Some of the curtain had come off the cutain rings making it look a bit tatty.
