Very Friendly staff. very accommodating. Would have liked something with more protein for a breakfast choice. Eggs or Yogurt.

I stayed at this hotel two nights and had been worried after reading some negative reviews. However, it did not take so long to figure out, fortunately, they do not apply to my stay. When I entered, a clerk named Rahaman welcomed me warmly. The room itself is not bad and has an AC, a TV and a refrigerator and a microwave. Bathroom is also well cleaned. As the building itself is old, but classic. I have stayed at these kinds of hotels in Europe, so I did not care, but I liked this. Furthermore this hotel must have been renovated several times. It takes only about 10 minutes walking to the center of the city. The neighborhood itself is very classic and peaceful. One thing I am concerned about is that there is a kind of place helping the homeless and drug-addicted. However, because there is a university nearby, even though in the evening or at night, there are many young students walking through. So I was not so afraid of. All in all, I am very satisfied with staying there. These days, it is almost impossible to stay at any hotel in Toronto, especially in Downtown with the price I paid. If I visit Toronto again, I would like to consider staying at this hotel under one condition that Rahaman works still.

I read somewhat negative feedbacks, but I do have different opinion. The clerk named Rahaman was very kind and professional. The room is cozy and bedding is comfortable. The size itself might be small, but in many European cities, I had smaller rooms than this with higher price. I reserved this hotel a couple of weeks ago with very cheap price. However, I would like to say it is impossible to get a hotel in Downtown Toronto like this regarding the price. It takes less than ten minutes walking to the main place. If I have another chance to visit Toronto, I will definitely think of this hotel again.

Bed bug infestation in our room and when brought to the attention of the front desk he acted like he couldn’t understand what I was trying to say. I showed him photos of the very obviously bed bug droppings around the zipper on the bed. He refused to refund us and by the end of it all he was just plain ignoring us.

Overnight stay

The check-in went well. The guy at the counter was very courteous. My room was on the first floor. Vehicle and walking traffic was very noticeable. Hearing people hold conversations outside in the middle of the night wasn't thrilling. I didn't feel threatened. The major standout for me was the fact that a few of the wall sconces didn't have shades on them. That should have been a quick and easy fix. There was a continental breakfast set up with ample supplies.

Decent Hotel for a Good Price

Pros: Price, proximity to parking
Cons: Breakfeast. Better denotation about non-smoker rooms. The carpet in the hallway. A second key would be nice.
Location: Close to parking, streetcar stops and Y/D Square as well as the Distillery District (which is SO cool)
We chose to stay at the Royal Oak Inn because of how cheap it was, as well as its reasonably close distance to nearby destinations such as the Distillery District and Yonge-Dundas Square (a walk we made at least 5 times). The rooms are all you would expect and nothing more or less - its two beds, and a bathroom. Our room was on the third floor meaning that we had access to two of the dormers, the downside was one of them was in the shower and I hit my head on it several times (and im not even that tall: 5' 10"). Beds were tolerable, but not great. "Free continental breakfeast" was nothing to write home about: bananas, doughnuts, toast/waffles, and cereal. The MOST important thing any perspective guests need to know is where to park. take a left onto Dundas and drive until you hit Regent St. and look for blue "P" inscribbed in a circle, then take a left and the entrance to the underground parking lot is right there. The rates are fare and its a close walk to the hotel.

Good place, super convenient!

Good place, good staff. Had everything a single guy traveling to Toronto for a few days would need. Pros: Accommodating staff, Clean rooms, Free breakfast, Free coffee all day haha, Street car to subway right in front of the inn, Key card locked doors so secure, Super close to downtown and stores. Cons: My neighbors on the first night were way too loud, to be fair I didn't report the noise so cant complain much. The neighborhood was kinda weird but whatever, overall satisfied.
