Worst experience ever at a hotel due to awful treatment by hotel staff

Cons: poor treatment by staff
I arrived at hotel with my wife and infant son late on Friday evening, past midnight after a 6 hour drive. We were very tired and just wanted to get to bed. Upon check in at the desk I was informed by the front desk clerk that the hotel's underground parking garage was full and consequently there was no room to park my vehicle. The clerk directed me to use the public underground parking garage in the building next door. The clerk specifically stated that the public parking garage was cheaper than the hotel daily parking rate. She went on to say that the public garage cost $6.00 per night on weekends. Following checkin I drove my car to the nearby public parking lot, paid the $6.00 parking fee at the self administered kiosk, put the parking stub on the dashboard of my car to display proof of payment, locked the car, returned to the hotel and went to bed. Next morning at approximately 9:00 am I returned to my car to find a $42.00 parking ticket on my windshield levied by the parking authority. Upon examination I discovered that the $6.00 fee only covered parking until 5:00 am the following morning. In order to receiveing a parking ticket, I was supposed to pay an extra fee at the time of parking. Although this point was stated in small print on signage at the parking payment kiosk, the hotel attendant made no mention of this fact. I went back to the hotel to report this matter to the hotel reception staff and I was referred to the front desk manage. To add insult to injury, the manager's reaction was very disconcerting to say the least,. Everything I said was met with a response to the effect that the hotel asumes no responsibility and there would be no financial offset on my hotel bill. Even when I recommended that the staff include the additional information concerning extra fees whenever they recommended use of the public parking lot in future, his comments were still focussed on how the hotel assumed no responsibility for any extra financial charge. This made both my wife and I somewhat upset and had the effect of ruining what should otherwise have been a pleasant weekend in Toronto sightseeing and visiting family. I strongly recommend to readers, if good service from hotel staff is at all important to you, avoid the Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel in Toronto.

Very busy hotel in the middle of downtown. Employees were friendly and knowledgeable. The only slight issue that I had was with the concierge lounge. I thought it was open to everyone staying st the hotel, but the hotel employee stated that it wasn’t included with my reservation. In addition, it’s not available on weekends. Besides that small misunderstanding, I enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was good also.

Nice hotel ...front desk staff are iffy

Pros: Clean, Location, and the rooms are laid out nice
Cons: Front Desk staff really needs to work on customer satisfaction
Location: Right down town. Close to Ryerson University, mall etc, There are a lot of great places for drinks and food.
Nice place. Great location, clean, nice rooms. I have stayed there a few times. Last time I stayed there the front desk was not helpful at all. If I had time I would have asked for the manager but I had a meeting I had to get to so I did not want to take much more time. They charged me extra for internet even though it is supposed to be a no charge since I am a Marriot Rewards member. I am honestly thinking of just cancelling it out and never staying with them again. It is amazing what one person can do to ruin their reputation.

Being fixed

Pros: Close restaurants
Unknown to me upon booking: hotel was under renovations... The heat in the lobby and restaurant was not working. So getting in rather late, eating was a chilling experience.... Then they also did work on the hot water from midnight to 4:30am and gave notice at checkin (comping 1/2 breakfast or Marriott reward points). So the morning shower was a bit brisk... After the first 36 hours, things got better... If you have need for internet, book upgraded from the base room. Internet, local and international calling is included in the upgraded price.

The hotel was in a great location!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
My mother and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help with directions or ideas on places to dine or visit. For two women who love to shop, this was an ideal place since the hotel is connected to a mall. It was very satisfactory in terms of cleanliness and service and we always felt safe. I would stay there again and I would recommend it to a friend.

great hotel

The hotel is located in the heart of Toronto, close to everything you would need. The employees were very hospitable and the room was clean ... privacy is respected ... they would not disturb me even when I asked them to. I forgot I had the do not disturb sign on the door. It was a great experience and I would stay there again ...
