HUGE WATERFRONT CABIN NEAR VANCOUVER ON THE SUNSHINE COAST WITH DEEP SEA DOCKS

Our spacious summer home with spectacular views features 5 bedrooms & 4 bathrooms in 2 buildings plus tons of space across spacious decks, docks, and a gorgeous (accessible!) 235-foot hillside funicular elevator for easy waterfront access. Our 62-foot dock can accommodate big boats with room for guest tie-ups, too!

Our minimum stay is 30 days, but CONTACT US directly if you are interested in a shorter visit and we will try to find a solution for a shorter stay.

We have plenty of space for 8 people (3-4 couples or a family), and we are flexible for up to 10 people with an up-charge. You can enjoy unlimited use of 2 rowboats, 2 kayaks, and 2 paddle boards, plus room for your hiking and camping gear and mountain bikes.

Adventure and tranquility awaits! Get ready to enjoy an off-the-grid rental on a private island, at the edge of the wilderness, approximately 65 miles north of Vancouver. We're in Quarry Bay, on Nelson Island, in the popular Sunshine Coast Regional District, a halfway sail to the famous Desolation Sound. These recreational properties are coveted family legacies not accessible to the general public. The closest coastal town is Madiera Park in Pender Harbour, 15-20 minutes by boat or water taxi from Pender Harbour OR about 25 - 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver by seaplane.

This is a very special place to connect with yourself, your guests, and nature. Remote but not out of touch, we have all the creature comforts you could want inside the house, and out. Keep in mind, there is nowhere to spend money on the island - so you bring in (or order) what you need…or don’t catch! There is excellent fishing for many types of salmon, lingcod, red snapper, and more. And you might just even get up close and personal for whale watching, spotting dolphins, and sea lions.

    An island adventure to remember!
Wow! What an amazing property and home this was. Our family had the vacation of a lifetime on the island and enjoyed every single moment of our stay. The views are unbelievable and every morning we were delighted anew by the incredible beauty of the area and the luxurious accommodations. Alistair was even kind enough to let us enjoy his garden's bounty. He was an excellent host and arranged fantastic boat transport and overnight storage of our vehicles. We even had fresh prawns that were collected on our return trip and turned out to be the best meal of our lives. I truly cannot imagine a more idyllic and delightful place to spend time with family and friends. It is a little piece of perfect:)! We couldn't recommend it more highly. Thanks Alistair!

    Worth the boat ride
We had an incredible time staying at Alistair's cabin for four nights. His place is extremely beautiful, well-thought-out, and peaceful. Alistair was a great host and we hope to visit again soon.

    One week in paradise
Fantastic week. We didn't want to leave. Could not have been improved upon in any way. Kids loved hiking to the lake, jumping off the dock boating up to Robert's beach and the occasional cruise back to John Henry's for nothing more than ice cream! We will be back.

    Amazing Experience
It is an amazing place. I went there with my 89 year old mother and 30 something adult children. We had a blast and had some great family fun. It’s a little piece of heaven the deers and birds fresh air stars ocean. There’s something for everyone weather it’s kyacking paddleboarding hiking or just chilling enjoying nature. My 89 year old mom is still telling everyone. Allistair and Louise are the best hosts and they even helped with my mom and luggage. (We way overpacked. Lol) They were both so kind and sweet a piece of my heart will always be at the Quarrybbean. Thankyou Alistair and Louise for sharing your beautiful little piece of heaven.

This waterfront property is beautifully situated with every view point looking out over the ocean. Easy & instant access to hikes to two lakes from the main house and a gorgeous dock for ocean front relaxing. There is a lot of love that went into creating this property and it shows. Quarrybbean, Nelson Island on the Sunshine Coast a slice of paradise
Coming from Toronto, Ontario we were excited about our trip to Nelson island on the Sunshine Coast. Our group consisted of my wife, myself and three of our kids and their spouses. We were very grateful the host Alistair was on site in his private suite and took us on several great hikes through the woods to two inland lakes for great swimming. There are several trails for beginners to those that like a bigger challenge. He was also very gracious to take us around in his Nelson Ranger boat to a few local beaches with some great landmarks and provide a great introduction to the area. The cabin was well equipped with plenty of room for everyone and great central areas outside for dinners and drinks. Our Host was also kind enough to organize our first ever salt water fishing trip with Al Green of Trophy Charters. It wasn’t long before we caught a 15 Pound Salmon , followed by a 13 pounder that gave a great fight with three jumps and many runs. At the end of the day we caught over 10 fish and kept three of the salmon and one beautifully Cod. Al cleaned all the fish and you sure beat fresh Salmon for dinner. It was an amazing weekend with all the kids ( why do we still call them kids when they are in their 30’s? LOL) You can lie in one of two hammocks with absolutely spectacular views and do nothing. Or you can fish, swim. Paddle board, hike and cliff jump. Serene and exciting you decide ! End the day with the most amazing viewing of the stars above. Great weekend and we will be back Thanks Alistair you have a little slice of heaven.

    A great Island experience!
Our experience was fantastic! A very warm welcome from our host, fabulous views, easy swimming, kayaking, water toys, great hiking, breath taking lakes, lots of outdoor spaces for meals, very comfortable house and a funicular/elevator that makes things a lot easier to you and get your gear up to this cliff top property! Our host, was with us most of the time and was excited to show us a great trip and that he did! Our group of 6 had use of the large main house with 4 bedrooms and our host had a separate accommodation on the property which was great as he also acted as our private tour guide and showed us so much of the island. The kitchen was comfortable to work in and was equipped with all the essentials including a bbq that was on the outside patio deck that was fully furnished, comfortable and scenic. Meal and beverage planning is essential because you are on island and there is no commercial amenities of any kind. It is impracticable to think you can come and go to Pender Harbour unless you are bringing your own boat. We loved our stay and getting to know our host and look forward to more trips in the future.

    The Perfect Getaway!
What an amazing place! I've never seen anything like it on the islands. So much fun swimming and paddleboarding off the large dock and then gliding quietly up to the house for a BBQ. The views from the upper balcony are breathtaking and perfect for baywatching, sunsets and even stargazing. We all had a wonderful time! Many thanks!
